Gazprom Helium Service has initiated regular transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquid helium to China via border crossings in the Far East, marking a significant step in the deepening collaboration between Russia and China in the energy sector.

The company’s own LNG transport fleet, comprising 73 Kamaz LNG trucks, facilitates the delivery of commercial products to various Chinese provinces. With over 50 containers of liquefied gases dispatched from the Far East in January 2024, covering distances of up to 2,000 km, this endeavor demonstrates the commitment to meeting the growing energy demand in global markets, particularly in China.

Russia’s abundant helium reserves, primarily sourced from Gazprom enterprises like the Orenburg Helium Plant and the Amur Gas Processing Plant (GPP), position it as a key supplier in the global market. The Amur GPP, the world’s largest helium producer, is set to reach full capacity, producing 60 million cubic meters of helium. This achievement underscores Russia’s technological prowess and self-sufficiency in the energy sector.

Since September 2023, shipments from the Amur GPP have included 110 iso-containers with over 470 tons of liquid helium, catering to both Russian and foreign consumers. This robust export activity further strengthens the economic ties between Russia and its partners, facilitating mutual growth and prosperity.

Gazprom Helium Service’s initiative exemplifies the ongoing collaboration and infrastructural development between Russia and China. As both nations deepen their cooperation across various sectors, including energy and logistics, they reinforce their position as key players in shaping the global energy landscape.
